Victorious and Glorious 

A Poem By Ahan Sharma

Epidemics and pandemics,
Ravaging humanity,
Changing the course of history,
Taking over the body,
Sparing Nobody.

People in good health,
Attacked by disease,
Civilizations collapsed and laid waste,
Bringing devastation in its wake
Sometimes signalling the end…
End of the HUMAN RACE 

Spreading, quickly,
Spreading fast,
In numbers very vast,
Gloom everywhere it cast
And epidemics and Pandemics have shaped our very past.

There are few ways,
To prevent this disgrace,
One of them,
A vaccine, a treatment, or a cure,
Another of them,
Staying safe, and being brave
Another reason,
Last not least,
Excellent immunity

With new technology and medicine,
The risk nowadays,                      
is miniscule,
And most survive,
And stay alive,
And continue with their regular lives.

Lessons learnt; habits changed
Medicine has us better prepared.
 We may be Scarred and scared
But we shall not be despaired
Our doctors are well armed
Against the one that cannot be harmed
Remember but that it can be controlled
With education, awareness and being prepared   

From this all,
We have and shall EMERGE,
Victorious and glorious
The message of strength and will power
Has made us all understand,
That alone not we stand.
We have come in this together,
And we shall come out stronger.

  “People join the Army and Police to die and are paid to die…” said the self-assured Bihar minister as millions of TV viewers watched aghast at the insensitivity and brazenness of an arrogant politician.    The hue and cry raised over the issue frankly left me untouched and unmoved as do many of the concerns raised by the media and the so called political parties.  Why you may ask am I not angry at the rant of this callous man who feels that people act and behave in a particular way only because they are paid for it?
